Highway of Heroes

The Association will be advocating for New York City to formally designate Riverside Drive from 72nd through 122nd Streets as the “Highway of Heroes,” which has monuments to Eleanor Roosevelt, Soldiers and Sailors, Joan of Arc, the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fighters (Kossuth), the FDNY’s Firefighters, Samuel Tilden, and Franz Sigel. Grant’s Tomb is just north at 122nd street. We also will be advocating for the City to expand the annual Memorial Day Parade to make it a bigger citywide event with the participation of the NYPD, FDNY, and members from each of our armed forces.
