Recent Accomplishments
Fall 2025
The W90s Neighborhood Association spent years advocating for the restoration of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. We are pleased to share the news that the project achieved $62.3 million in funding, and restoration has begun.
At the 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony at the Monument, W90sNA board members Edward Soloway and Linda Lopez presented a wreath to honor our service people and in memory of all those who have given their lives for their country. Co-president Neil Berson presented a wreath on behalf of the UWS Coalition of Block Associations & Community Groups.
We worked with the NYC Parks Department and Riverside Conservancy to identify tree hazards where the park abuts local sidewalks, which resulted in the earmarking of hundreds of thousands of dollars to remediate the problem.
We supported Riverside Park Conservancy in raising funds and awareness for their “More Trees, Less Trash” project.
We also identified significant hazards on the bridge over Amtrak’s Freedom Tunnel in Riverside Park, and flooding conditions in the upper park near West 116 Street and in the children’s Dinosaur Park at West 97 Street.
We sought funding through Participatory Budgeting and our local officials for the installation of tree guards around our street trees. NYC Parks Department has scheduled the guards to be installed over the next three years, along with the planting of more trees.
Recently we participated in selecting a new Commander of the 24th Precinct.
We partnered with the NYC Department of Sanitation to add trash receptacles to street corners, combat rat infestations, and facilitate more effective street cleaning and garbage collection.
